Gary Vaynerchuk - the Million Dollar Wine Nerd

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

Currently I am watching a wine tasting show at Winelibrary.com. I happened to get there because of a blog entry of Rich Schefren of StrategicProfits.com (check that one out too, he currently runs a video contest with some nice prices). Apart from earning 50 million dollars with building a small wine empire, Gary has discovered the Social Strategy of getting and keeping visitors to his site through delivering authentic and original content. And a lot of these visitors will turn into potential buyers :)

Gary Vaynerchuk from Winelibrary.com

But what really amazed me was the total professionalism of his sites. Designed and developed by one of the best web designers in the world: Dan Cederholm.

The second thing that amazed me was the really entertaining way of Gary presenting these tastings. You can tell that he’s totally passionate about wines. And apart from being a bit of an ADHD guy, you really have to love him by being such an honest, witty and totally succesful nerd.

Great performance Gary. You earned it and show us all a new way of doing business!

Attract more Sales in the Battle for Attention

Sunday, December 2nd, 2007

It’s tough to get the attention of your visitors nowadays. People get more and more exposed to advertizing. According to university research:

The average American is exposed to 500 to 1,000 commercial messages a day. That’s anywhere from 182,500 to 365,000 commercial messages that a person will view this year alone.

In the search for new ways to attract the attention of visitors a new cool advertizing gadget has been developed. You may have noticed the slightly curved corner of this homepage. If not: look at the topright corner. It makes the viewer curious of what’s behind that curved corner. It looks kinda magical and users are attracted to click on it. If you’d like to use them on your site, go ahead and visit the Peelaway Ads site. It isn’t free, but only a small cost compared to the revenue you can collect by using this new and cool way of advertizing.
